Winnipeg, MB - As the City of Winnipeg is attempting to limit the spread of Dutch Elm Disease within its boundaries, the public is reminded that, in accordance with The Forest Health Protection Act, it is illegal to prune elm trees from April 1 to July 31. It is also illegal to store elm wood at any time.
Pruning elms trees during the restricted period and storing elm wood each contribute to the spread of Dutch Elm Disease.
