Updated website, information for residents outlines traffic and parking management plan

Winnipeg, MB - Winnipeg residents, members of the University of Manitoba community, and football and event attendees have a newly updated source of information that explains how to get to Investors Group Field on game and event days.

Re-launched today to coincide with an announcement by the Winnipeg Football Club on the many options to get to the new stadium, the Event Day Transportation and Parking Plan website is now live.

The Event Day Transportation and Parking Plan is a partnership between the Winnipeg Football Club, University of Manitoba and the City of Winnipeg. The Plan will be put in place for all events where more than 15,000 attendees are expected. It outlines a number of Transit options that are recommended along with Active Transportation and carpooling as options to manage traffic and parking in the vicinity of Investors Group Field.

The Plan also establishes Residential Restricted Parking zones in University Heights and a portion of Fort Richmond, where no parking will be allowed from 12:00 noon to 10:00 p.m. on event days.

A 12-page flyer outlining the Transportation and Parking Plan is currently being delivered to residents of Fairfield Park, Fort Richmond, Minnetonka, University Heights and Waverley Heights.

The City of Winnipeg would like to remind event attendees to observe all laws and regulations, including traffic laws and parking restrictions, as Winnipeg Police Service and the Winnipeg Parking Authority will be monitoring activities in the neighbourhoods. Our goal is to ensure event days are managed for the mutual benefit of residents, the University community, Blue Bomber fans and other event attendees.
