Winnipeg, MB - Looking for a companion to take walks with on those beautiful spring mornings? Why not consider adopting a dog from Animal Services!
The City of Winnipeg Animal Services Agency is experiencing abnormally high holding levels for dogs. There are currently 50 dogs in the Animal Services facility: 34 dogs available for adoption, and 16 unlicensed, stray dogs waiting for their owners to come.
One such dog that was picked up without a license and is now up for adoption is Juliet. Click here to view Juliet’s photo.
In order to help free up kennel space, the Animal Services Agency will be holding an Adopt-a-Dog sale on the following days at 1057 Logan Avenue:
Wednesday, April 24 | 12:00 noon to 5:30 p.m. |
Thursday, April 25 | 12:00 noon to 5:30 p.m. |
Friday, April 26 | 12:00 noon to 5:30 p.m. |
All in-house dog adoptions are only $99 and include license, micro-chip, spay/neuter, basic shots, food and pet health insurance.
Animal Services officials remind the public that dogs over six months of age must have and wear a dog license. Stray dogs found wearing a current license are given a “free ride home” once a year.
In 2012, 927 dogs wearing a current license were reunited by 311 without ever setting foot in the Animal Services’ facility. Dog license tags protect one’s dog and license revenues help provide the essential service of animal control in Winnipeg.
