Snow clearing crews plowing sidewalks and back lanes city-wide

Released: March 19, 2013 at 2:23 p.m.

Winnipeg, MB - City snow clearing crews have completed truck plowing all Priority 1 streets (main routes) across the city. It is expected truck plowing of Priority 2 streets, which includes all bus routes and collector streets, will be completed today.

Plowing of sidewalks on main routes and sidewalks on bus routes and collector streets is also underway and will continue until completed. This will be followed by plowing of sidewalks on residential streets later in the week. Back lane plowing, which started this morning, will continue daily from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. until completed.

The City has assessed the overall condition of residential streets, and due to the smooth compacted snow surface, a residential street snow clearing operation is not planned at this time. With warmer temperatures forecasted for the coming days, Public Works will continue to monitor the conditions of residential streets.
