Bockstael Construction Limited to sponsor dressing room at Southdale Community Centre

WINNIPEG, MB - Councillor Vandal, on behalf of Mayor Sam Katz, was joined today by John Bockstael, Chief Executive Officer of Bockstael Construction Limited and Todd Thornton, President of Southdale Community Centre to announce a generous Sponsor Winnipeg contribution that will benefit users of the Southdale Community Centre.

Bockstael Construction Limited is contributing $24,000 toward the naming rights of a dressing room at the centre. The proceeds from this sponsorship go towards supporting the maintenance of the dressing room for the next ten years.

“Community-minded individuals and organizations like Bockstael Construction help make Winnipeg what it is â�" a great place to live, work and play,” said Paula Havixbeck, City Councillor responsible for Corporate Sponsorship. “We are very pleased to be welcoming them into a distinct group of sponsors investing in their community.”

“The contribution we’re announcing today adds to significant investments Council is making into community facilities,” said Dan Vandal, City Councillor for St. Boniface. “Bockstael Construction is to be applauded for helping to improve amenities that will benefit citizens for many years to come.”

“Bockstael Construction is proud to give back to the greater Winnipeg community by supporting the Southdale Community Centre and its sports programs,” said John Bockstael, Chief Executive Officer of Bockstael Construction Limited.

Sponsor Winnipeg is a partnership program which provides public-spirited individuals, businesses, corporations, foundations and community groups with opportunities to sponsor a wide variety of City of Winnipeg assets and programs, in return for naming rights, legacy opportunities and other marketing benefits associated with sponsorship of City facilities and services.

This continuing program supports the City's commitment to deliver high quality services to the citizens of Winnipeg by generating new revenue sources.

Since the launch of Sponsor Winnipeg, the City has generated over $2 million to enhance civic programs and services.

On November 28, 2012, Executive Policy Committee will consider an administrative report regarding this sponsorship initiative.
