Residents get Internet-on-the-go with more WiFi in more places

WINNIPEG, MB - Shaw Communications and the City of Winnipeg announced today that the Shaw WiFi network is expanding to include even more popular Winnipeg locations like libraries, arenas, recreation facilities and community centres.

This major expansion, which is before Winnipeg City Council for their approval, gives Shaw customers in Winnipeg unparalleled WiFi access, through Shaw's WiFi network which is now available across Western Canada, thanks to partnerships with municipalities, small businesses and property managers. Shaw WiFi is a complimentary service available to Shaw Internet customers.

"It's vital the City of Winnipeg provide its residents with the very latest in communications tools," said Winnipeg Mayor Sam Katz. "I know that busy families are going to appreciate WiFi access in arenas and community centres. We look forward to working with Shaw Communications to keep enhancing the out-of-home Internet experience."

With more access points, Shaw customers can also take advantage of Shaw WiFi to stream live and On Demand content with Shaw's TV Everywhere service, Shaw Go. Now available on popular mobile devices, the Shaw Go: Movie Central and Shaw Go: NFL Sunday Ticket apps allow subscribers to take their favourite entertainment choices on-the-go.

"We are thrilled to work with the City of Winnipeg to extend the broadband Internet experience for Shaw customers living in and travelling to Winnipeg," said Peter Bissonnette, President, Shaw Communications Inc. "Combined with our leadership in the TV Everywhere category and the popularity of WiFi enabled devices, this new agreement will provide our customers in Winnipeg with an unparalleled online experience, no matter where they might be in the city."

Shaw customers only need to register their mobile device once at a Shaw WiFi location and then that device is automatically connected to all other Shaw WiFi locations across the country in the future. For more information please visit www.shaw.ca.
