Railway crossing closure on St. Matthews Avenue between Empress Street and Strathcona Street

WINNIPEG, MB - August 9, 2012 - The public is advised that St. Matthews Avenue will be completely closed to westbound and eastbound traffic at the railway crossing between Empress Street and Strathcona Street on Monday, August 13 at 6:00 a.m. due to a railway crossing reconstruction.

Local traffic will continue to have access up to the railway crossing during the reconstruction. St. Matthews Avenue will reopen on Thursday, August 16 at 6:00 a.m.

Motorists are reminded to allow additional travel time and to use alternative west to east routes such as Portage Avenue or Ellice Avenue.

Pedestrian access will also be restricted as sidewalks at the rail crossing will be closed.
