WINNIPEG, MB - July 24, 2012 - The public is being advised that due to mechanical repairs at the Fort Rouge Leisure Centre this afternoon, this location will be closed until further notice.

The Centre, located at 625 Osborne Street, was evacuated earlier today as a result of problems being experienced with the air cooling system. All occupants of the building were safely evacuated.

Programming at the facility has been suspended until further notice. Participants registered for Cartown, Fish 'N' Fun, Lil' Critters & Family Pottery camps will be contacted with further information. The Osborne Library, which is located in the facility, is also closed, however the book return is open for any drop offs.

The public can call 311 or visit winnipeg.ca/cms/recreation/facilities/leisurecentres/default.stm for further updates.

To help citizens get a break from the heat, the City is continuing to operate "cooling areas" throughout Winnipeg at various leisure centres, libraries and other public facilities. In addition to regular operating hours, the City has extended hours at spray pads and some outdoor pools. Please visit Winnipeg.ca or contact 311 for more information regarding operating hours.
