Major New Sponsors for the Transcona Centennial Square

Today, Mayor Sam Katz and City Councillor Russ Wyatt joined the Transcona BIZ in celebrating major new sponsors for key features in the Transcona Centennial Square.

WINNIPEG - April 30, 2012 - Today, Mayor Sam Katz and City Councillor Russ Wyatt joined the Transcona BIZ in celebrating major new sponsors for key features in the Transcona Centennial Square.

"The City of Winnipeg has provided more than $600,000 in support of the Transcona Centennial Square project," said Mayor Katz. "Now through the fundraising efforts of Transcona BIZ, the private sector is stepping forward to share the vision of what this community space can achieve."

Major naming sponsors announced today include:

  • Geoff and Regan Archambault - Century 21 Realty, sponsors of the Performance Pavilion, which will be the hub of activities and festivals taking place in downtown Transcona.
  • Wyatt Dowling Insurance and Wawanesa Insurance, sponsors of Community Walls of Fame honouring individuals and businesses who have contributed to Transcona's growth and success.
  • New Flyer Industries, sponsor of the Peace Water Fountain, which will provide a space for reflection and will be lit at night.

These three sponsors are contributing a total of $245,000 towards the Square's key features.

"The community is coming together this year to celebrate our 100th year and the Transcona Centennial Square is the icing on our birthday cake,"said Councillor Russ Wyatt.

"The Transcona BIZ is proud the community will soon be able to enjoy the Transcona Centennial Square," said Wendy Galagan, Executive Director of Transcona BIZ. "The Square will be a true community gathering place for all residents of Transcona and Winnipeg."
