WINNIPEG - February 22, 2012 - The City of Winnipeg is hosting four open house sessions to seek public input on detached Secondary Suites.

As advertised, dates and locations for the open house sessions are as follows:

Session 1: 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Session 2: 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

What are Secondary Suites?

  • A Secondary Suite is a second housing unit added to a single lot. It can either be attached or detached from the existing house/dwelling. In either case, the secondary suite is generally smaller in size than the main house /dwelling.
  • A Secondary Suite has its own entrance, kitchen, bathroom and living area.
  • Other common names for Secondary Suites include carriage houses, coach houses, lane way houses, garage suites, garden suites and granny flats.
