Function

To consider and decide matters pertaining to building design and construction, and to provide advice and guidance to City employees, committees of Council in the application of the Winnipeg Building By-law and the Building / Electrical Codes.

  • Dale Verville, Qualico - Manitoba Home Builders' Association  
  • John Frye, University of Manitoba - Member at Large

Appointments for a 3-year term to expire June 30, 2024:

  • John Wells, Crosier Kilgour - Engineer 
  • Mark Ager, Ager Little Architects - Architect 
  • Rick Marshall, Bird Construction - Winnipeg Construction Association 
  • Chris Hewitt, SMS Engineering - Member at Large  
  • Director of Fire Prevention - Senior Fire Officer,  Winnipeg Fire and Paramedic Service

Composition

9 members:

  • 2 members of the Association of Professional Engineers of Manitoba, of which 1 shall be a civil or structural engineer and the other a mechanical engineer or a fire protection engineer
  • 2 members of the Manitoba Association of Architects
  • 1 active member of the Winnipeg Construction Association
  • 1 active member of the Manitoba Home Builders' Association
  • 1 senior Fire Officer of the City of Winnipeg, Fire Paramedic Services
  • 2 members at large with expertise in the application of the codes or the Electrical Code

Members are appointed for 3 year terms, shall have at least 10 years’ experience in their occupation and shall be in active practice during the term of their appointment.
