WINNIPEG - February 23, 2009 - Looking for ways to keep your children active this winter? Have them join the coolest new club in town. Offered each Thursday in February and March, Snowshoe Club will include basic snowshoe instruction, nature exploration, and fun games.

The program is FREE of charge and will operate on a drop-in basis. Snowshoes will be provided.

Suitable for children 6 - 12 years of age. Parents are welcome to participate.

WHERE: Living Prairie Museum, 2795 Ness Avenue
DATES: Beginning Thursday, February 26, 2009, and running each Thursday thereafter (until there is no more snow.)

Drop-off is between 3:30 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. Pick-up is between 5:15 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.

WINNIPEG - February 23, 2009 - Winnipeg Mayor Sam Katz today reminded citizens with an interest in environmental issues and a desire to influence civic policy to apply for the remaining positions in the Mayor’s Environmental Advisory Committee before the applicataion deadline: Thursday, February 26, 2009 at 12:00 noon.

Applicants are asked to submit work experience, personal contact information and a brief description of themselves. With the new members in place, the Mayor’s Environmental Advisory Committee will hold its next meeting in March, and will deliver recommendations on a quarterly basis beginning this spring. A 2009 meeting schedule will be determined at the March meeting including dates for public meetings as directed in the committee mandate.
