WINNIPEG - May 17, 2007 - Media and members of the public are invited to join the City of Winnipeg in celebrating 125 years of fire and rescue service in Winnipeg with an event at The Forks on Saturday, May 19, 2007 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Centred around the Market Plaza, Port, and Cobblestone Area (Bus Loop), the celebration has something for everyone!

Join firefighters and paramedics for live demonstrations:

  • High Angle Rescue
  • Water Rescue
  • Auto Extrication with the Jaws of Life
  • Hazardous Materials

There will be entertainment, interactive exhibits, equipment displays (including antique trucks) and much, much more!

An official ceremony will take place at 12:00 noon at the Canopy, with remarks from dignitaries and special guests.

Free hot dog and drink for the first 1,000 people (with a food voucher).

Please consider bringing a tin for the bin, a toy for a tot, a coat for a kid or a book for a child.
