Winnipeg Transit New Year’s Eve service

MEDIA RELEASE:

WINNIPEG December 31, 2006 - Winnipeg Transit will operate a downtown shuttle and extra service for New Year’s Eve Celebrations at the Forks. Regular transit fares apply.

"Family Celebrations” Downtown Shuttle - a downtown shuttle service will operate from the Forks (York Avenue and Waterfront Drive) from 8:00 p.m. until approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, December 31, 2006. This shuttle service will connect with transit service along Graham Mall and Portage Ave.

“Midnight Fireworks Celebrations” Extra Service - Following the midnight fireworks at the Forks, buses will depart from Main Street between St. Mary Avenue and York Avenue.

Buses leave northbound Main Street and St. Mary Avenue:

• Route 10 - St. Boniface/Provencher
• Route 11 - Kildonan-Rothesay/Glenway
• Route 11 - Portage-Unicity/Ness
• Route 15 - Sargent-Airport/Ellice
• Route 16 - Selkirk-Burrows - Effective Dec. 31/06 at 14:40 p.m – No service west of Keewatin or on Chudley or Tyndall.
• Route 17 - McGregor-Royal
• Route 18 - North Main-Leila
• Route 19 - Logan-Keewatin/Arlington
• Route 44 - Grey-London - Effective Dec. 31/06 at 14:40 p.m No service to Harbourview South , or East of Louelda St.
• Route 47 - Transcona-Kildare

Buses leave southbound Main Street and York Avenue:

• Route 14 - St. Mary's - Paddington/St. Anne's - Effective Dec. 31/06 at 14:40 p.m No service on Britannica, Paddington or on Burland, south of Warde – Re-routed on Warde – both ways.
• Route 16 - Osborne-Island Lakes
• Route 18 - Corydon-Westdale - Effective Dec. 31/06 at 14:40 p.m No service west of Edgeland.
• Route 19 - Marion-Autumnwood
• Route 60 - Pembina-University
• Route 70 - Richmond West-St. Norbert
