Arlington Bridge will close for repairs

MEDIA RELEASE:

WINNIPEG August 10, 2006 - Arlington Bridge will be closed to vehicular traffic commencing at 6:00 a.m. on Monday, August 14, 2006 continuing through to early morning on Friday, August 18, 2006 to allow for repairs to a section of the bridge deck.

The work involves the removal of a portion of pavement, removal and replacement of a section of corroded corrugated steel deck pan, and re-paving of the area. The estimated cost of the repair is $25,000. During repairs pedestrians may still use the west sidewalk.

The bridge, opened in 1912, last underwent major rehabilitation in 1992 when $4.7 million was spent on structural steel repairs, new concrete sidewalks, safety handrails and deck repairs.
