Kenaston Underpass Project temporary closure

MEDIA RELEASE:

WINNIPEG May 26, 2006 - The following closures and traffic re-routes will be in effect on Sunday, May 28th between 6:00 am and 8:00 pm, to allow for railway works associated with the Kenaston Underpass Project:

• Kenaston Boulevard will be closed to all through traffic from Grant Avenue to Sterling Lyon Parkway.
• Northbound through traffic on Kenaston Boulevard will be detoured east on Sterling Lyon Parkway, north on Waverley Street and west on Grant Avenue.
• Southbound through traffic on Kenaston Boulevard will be detoured west on Grant Avenue, south on Shaftesbury Boulevard and east on Sterling Lyon Parkway.
• Local access will be maintained on Kenaston Boulevard between Grant Avenue and Taylor Avenue.
• Taylor Avenue will remain open.

Bill Larkin, Director of Public Works, says, “The closure will allow for the transfer of train traffic from the railway detour that was put in place last fall, onto the newly completed railway bridge. This will then allow the opportunity to complete the excavation beneath the railway bridge and the reconstruction of Kenaston Boulevard through this area for a planned opening in fall.”
