“There is still an investigation ongoing, and I will allow that investigation to run its course. I am confident Chief Wes Shoemaker and the senior members of the city administration will take whatever steps they believe are appropriate. The union has the right to have their grievances heard through a fair and independent process. It would be inappropriate for the mayor, or any city councillor, to intervene in the disciplinary investigations or grievance processes involving any city employee.”
