Mayor Katz congratulates Reg Alcock on appointment to federal cabinet Reg Alcock will provide Winnipeg with a strong voice at the cabinet table in Ottawa , said Katz. I look forward to working constructively with him on a variety of important issues here in the City that require input and support from our federal government. Katz also welcomed the creation of a new cabinet position, Minister of State (Infrastructure and Communities), and hopes this appointment signals a commitment by the Prime Minister to meet his campaign commitment to redefine and significantly increase the funding support received by Canadian municipalities. It has been recognized by mayors across the country that cities face some unique funding challenges, and Winnipeg is no exception, said Katz. I believe Reg Alcock will work with the Prime Minister and the new government to deliver on the election promises that are important to the citizens of Winnipeg .
