Homicide – Arrest, Public Assistance: C20-171330

On July 21, 2020, at 5:45 a.m., Winnipeg Police responded to a shooting on the street in the 1000 block of Main Street. An adult male was located suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to hospital in critical condition.

On July 23, 2020, the victim succumbed to his injuries while in hospital. The victim has been identified as Cody Alexander SLEIGH, 31. Originally from British Columbia, he had been residing in Winnipeg at the time of his death.

On September 7, 2020, detectives from the Winnipeg Police Homicide Unit, with assistance from Williams Lake RCMP, arrested a suspect in the Sleigh’s murder.

Kleon Cassidy POP, 32, was arrested in Williams Lake, BC, and returned to Winnipeg, where he was charged with First Degree Murder.

Police are requesting the public’s assistance in locating a second suspect in this homicide. A Canada-wide arrest warrant for First Degree Murder has been issued for Dyllan PETRIN, 19.

Petrin is 5’5” in height, medium build, with short dark hair.
Petrin has a tattoo on his right forearm and a tattoo of Chinese characters on the left side of his neck.

Petrin is believed to be in the south-central area of British Columbia.

Dyllan Petrin is considered armed and dangerous and is not to be approached.

Aggravated Assault – Arrests: C20-207760

On September 1, 2020, at approximately 10: 25 p.m., Winnipeg Police responded to a report of an assault in progress at a bar located in the 700 block of Maryland Street. Initial reports were that a group of people were attacking a victim outside this location. Responding officers located a male, in his 20’s, suffering from traumatic injuries to his head and face. He was conveyed to hospital in critical condition, where he has remained in treatment.

A suspect (Brendan Monias) was arrested in the area of Sherbrook Street and William Avenue shortly after police arrival.

An investigation by members of the Major Crimes Unit led to the arrest of a second suspect (Jonathan Flett) on September 3. A third suspect (a 17-year-old male) was arrested on September 13. Detectives continued with the investigation, and on September 19, arrested two additional suspects (Michael Harper and Brittany Fiddler).

Brendan Nigel Percy MONIAS, 27, has been charged with:
- Aggravated Assault
- Possess Weapon
- Carry Concealed Weapon/Prohibited Device
- Resist Peace Officer
- Fail to Comply with Condition of Release Order x 3

Jonathan Malachai FLETT, 18, has been charged with:
- Attempt to Commit Murder
- Possess Weapon
- Fail to Comply Sentence

A 17-year-old male was charged with:
- Aggravated Assault
- Fail to Comply Sentence

Brittany Michelle FIDDLER, 30, has been charged with:
- Assault with a Weapon
- Possess Weapon
- Fail to Comply with Release Order

Michael Kehche HARPER, 31, has been charged with:
- Aggravated Assault
- Possess Scheduled Substance (Methamphetamine)
- Fail to Comply with Condition of Undertaking

All of the accused were detained in custody.
