Robberies – Arrests: C17-264323/265257, C17-201140, C17-172828

On Friday, November 24, 2017 the Winnipeg Police Public Information Office released information on an armed robbery that had occurred in the 500 block of Atlantic Ave.  
(Robbery: C17-264323).
On November 24, 2017, General Patrol officers from Division 11 and 13, with the assistance of both the Tactical Support Team and the Major Crimes Unit, arrested a 19-year-old male suspect in this matter. The suspect has also been charged with offences relating to 2 additional robberies that were similar in nature.
On September 7, 2017 a 16-year old male went to meet a male in the 500 block of Atlantic Ave. who had responded to an online ad to where the victim was selling various electronic game components. The suspect showed the victim the handle of a gun and stole electronics. The victim was not injured.
As previously released:
On November 23, 2017 the Winnipeg Police Service was contacted by a male who advised that he has just been robbed. At approximately 4:05 p.m., he was attempting to sell his cell phone which he advised online. He attended to a residence in the 500 block of Atlantic Avenue where the potential buyer entered his vehicle. The suspect produced a machete-style knife and demanded the victim's personal property. The victim complied and fled the vehicle. The victim was not injured.

On November 24, 2017, at approximately 8:30 p.m. an adult male and female went to the 500 block of Atlantic Ave. to in response to an online ad to buy a television. After meeting the proposed seller the accused pointed a gun at the victims and demanded money and property. He then fled. The victims were not injured. Police were notified and the victims were able to direct officers to a residence where the accused was arrested.

Darian Allen Gaige SAM, 19, has been charged with:
- Robbery with Firearm x 2
- Robbery with Weapon
- Warrant of Arrest x 3

The accused was detained in custody.

On November 13, 2017, the Winnipeg Police Public Information Office released information on 2 stabbings that had occurred the previous evening.


Stabbing: C17-256144 (as previously released)

On November 12, 2017, at approximately 9:55 p.m., Winnipeg Police received a report of a male assaulted in the area Ellice Avenue and McMicken Street.
A 16-year-old male was walking in the area when he was accosted by a number of suspects and stabbed. He was taken to hospital, where he remains in critical condition.


Stabbing: C17-256168 (as previously released)

On November 12, 2017, at approximately 10:45 p.m., Winnipeg Police received a report of a male stabbed in the 400 block of Graham Avenue.
The 19-year-old male victim was treated at the scene for non-life-threatening injuries.

As a result of an intensive investigation by members of the Major Crimes Unit, 3 suspects have been arrested and charged in relation to these incidents.

Two male youths, 16 and 17, have been charged with:
- Aggravated Assault x 2
- Robbery
- Possession of a Weapon
- Theft Under $5,000
- Fail to Comply with Sentence Orders

They were detained in custody.

Johnny Ronnie Stanley JENSSON, 21, has been charged with the following offences:
- Robbery
- Aggravated Assault x 2
- Possess Weapon
- Theft Under $5,000
- Fail to Comply with Court Conditions

The accused was detained in custody.


Robberies/Firearms – Arrests: C17-262211

The Winnipeg Police Major Crime Unit has arrested 4 suspects in relation to a series of violent robberies that have occurred over the last month.

On October 17, 2017 a female, 26, was assaulted and robbed of an undisclosed amount of cash while in the 1100 block of Logan Ave. She was not seriously injured (C17-235428). (Martin-French accused)

On October 19, 2017, at approximately 3:30 a.m. a male suspect broke into a residence in the 300 block of Garwood Ave. The resident (an adult male) was threatened with a knife, and the suspect fled. (Martin-French accused)

On November 13, 2017, at approximately 2:30 p.m., an adult male was parking his vehicle in the 800 block of Sherbrook when he was confronted by a male armed with a firearm who demanded his vehicle. The suspect was unable to successfully drive the vehicle and left the area. The victim was not injured.

The same suspect then approached another male in the area where he again confronted and threatened the driver with a firearm and demanded his vehicle. The victim was not physically harmed and the suspect fled in the stolen vehicle. (Martin-French accused)

On November 20, 2017 at approximately 11:30 p.m., 2 adult female victims were confronted by 2 suspects in the first 100 block of Charles Walk. One suspect produced a firearm and threatened the victims, demanding their vehicle. The victims were not injured and the suspects fled in the stolen vehicle. (Martin-French, Petawanqueb accused)

Responding officers located the stolen vehicle in the 300 block of Redwood Ave. Members of the Tactical Support Team were able to arrest 4 adults from the residence without injury. 3 loaded firearms were seized from the residence.

As a result, 4 adults were arrested. A female faces 22 charges related to firearms and possession of stolen property. A second female faces 21 similar charges.

Jessie Gerald MARTIN-FRENCH, 22, faces a total of 47 separate charges relating to firearms offences and robberies. He was detained in custody.

Vincent John PETAWANQUEB, 31, faces a total of 34 separate charges relating to firearms offences and robberies. He was detained in custody.
