Robbery – Investigation: C17-152315

On July 11, 2017, at approximately 1:15 a.m., emergency personnel were dispatched to a report of an injured male at a residence in the 100 block of Bannerman Avenue.

Upon arrival, a 48-year-old male was located suffering from a number of stab wounds to his mid-body. The victim was originally transported to hospital in critical condition but has since been upgraded to stable condition.

It is believed that the victim had left an establishment in the 1400 block of Main Street and was walking in the 100 block of Atlantic Avenue when he was approached by a suspect. The victim was stabbed and robbed of an undisclosed amount of money.

The suspect is described as an Indigenous male with a thin build.

This investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit. Anyone with information that may assist investigators is asked to call 204-986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).

Stabbing: Arrest - C17-152768

On July 11, 2017 at approximately 5:00 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service was alerted to a fight in progress in the area of Portage Ave. and Maryland St. Officers attended and located a 41-year-old male with multiple stab wounds to his upper body and a 36-year-old female with injuries to her face. The male victim was transported to hospital in unstable condition. He underwent emergency surgery and has since been upgraded to stable condition. The female victim was treated in hospital and later released.

At approximately 5:20 p.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service Tactical Support Team located a vehicle containing all four suspects. The vehicle was stopped in the area of Balmoral St. and Cumberland Ave. and all four suspects were taken into custody without incident. At the time of the arrest, 5.16 grams of crack cocaine and 4.5 grams of an unidentified powder were located in the vehicle and seized.

Victor Alexander RYLE, a 34-years-old male of Winnipeg has been charged with:

  • Aggravated Assault
  • Assault Cause Bodily Harm
  • Possess Scheduled Substance - Cocaine
  • Possess Scheduled Substance - Marihuana

Dwayne Louis SIMARD, a 33-years-old male of Winnipeg has been charged with:

  • Aggravated Assault
  • Assault Cause Bodily Harm
  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance - Cocaine
  • Possess Weapon

Chester Duane Fergus ROULETTE, a 22-year-old male of Winnipeg has been charged with:

  • Aggravated Assault
  • Assault Cause Bodily Harm
  • Possession of Scheduled Substance - Cocaine

A 26-year-old female of Winnipeg has been charged with:

  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance - Cocaine

All three males have been detained in custody and the female was released on a Promise to Appear.
