Winnipeg Police Service Hosts Public Forum Tonight (March 20th) at Magnus Eliason Recreation Centre

The Winnipeg Police Service continues to work collaboratively with community partners to prevent, deter and reduce gang-related offences and drug activity in our communities.
That effort starts with the residents we serve and support.
As part of that effort, the Winnipeg Police Service invites residents to join us for a public forum on these important issues this evening.
When:   Monday, March 20th, 2017 –6:00 9 p.m.
              Presentations set to begin at 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Where:  Magnus Eliason Recreation Centre (430 Langside Street)
In addition to the community crime prevention information booths that will be set up by our partners:

  • Chief Danny Smyth will be in attendance.
  • Inspector Jim Anderson, Divisional Commander for the Downtown Division will be present.
  • Officers from the Criminal Investigations Division will be presenting on gang awareness while providing information on how to help keep our young people from joining gangs.
  • The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority will speak on Fentanyl and the associated dangers of this drug.
  • Winnipeg Police Board representatives will be in attendance.

Crime Prevention through social development is a long term, planned process of collaboration between police and the community.
