Missing Person UPDATE – Catherine CURTIS – C16-81635

On May 4, 2016 at approximately 3:15 p.m. emergency services personnel responded to a report of a body discovered in Sturgeon Creek in the area of Portage Avenue and Sturgeon Road.

Investigators have tentatively confirmed the body is that of Catherine CURTIS, 60-years-old. Final confirmation will be determined by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

Curtis was first reported missing April 25, 2016.

Assault Weapon – C16-87958

On May 3, 2016, at approximately 4:15 p.m. Winnipeg Police responded to a report of shots heard in the area of Isabel Street and Elgin Avenue.

Investigators have determined that two groups of males were arguing with each other from either side of Isabel Street.

The two groups confronted each other which resulted in one male suffering a gun-shot wound. The 21-year-old male victim was conveyed to hospital where he remains in stable condition.

Police are looking for two suspects described as:

1. Male, Aboriginal in appearance, early 20’s, approximately 5’9” in height, skinny build, with black short hair.

2. Male, Aboriginal in appearance, early 20’s, approximately 5’9” to 5’10” in height, medium build, with black short hair.

This investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crime Unit. Anyone who may have witnessed this incident or with further information that may assist investigators is asked to call 204-986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
