For Immediate Release

Cause Disturbance Arrest – C16-19948

On January 29, 2016, shortly before 12:30 p.m. members of the Winnipeg Police Service were dispatched to a shopping centre in the 1400 block of Portage Avenue for the report of two males, each possibly armed with a firearm.

Responding officers located and arrested both suspects shortly after arrival.  It was quickly learned that the two incidents were unrelated.

Investigation revealed that one of the males had been making hand and body gestures, which imitated the holding and shooting of a firearm, towards shoppers.

As a result of his alleged involvement, Clinton Peter OSBORNE, 26 years of Winnipeg has been charged with Causing a Disturbance and Fail to Comply with Probation Order.

He was detained in custody.

The second incident involved a male, 41 years of age, who was found to be in possession of an airsoft gun, which, though in a backpack, had been observed by witnesses.  He was cautioned and released without charge.

The suspect male is described as: Caucasian, 50-60 years of age with a bald head with grey/black hair on the sides, short grey/white moustache and goatee style beard.

The vehicle is described as a beige van with the middle and rear windows tinted.

The investigation is continuing by members of the District 3 Crime Unit.  Anyone with information regarding this incident or the identity of the suspect is asked to contact investigators at (204) 986-2848 or CrimeStoppers at (204) 786-TIPS (8477).
