Winnipeg Police Service Endowment Fund Projects Funded 2015
August 20, 2015 - The Winnipeg Police Service is proud to announce the first two grants in the history of the fund totaling $2,186.61 have been made for 2015.
St. Aidan’s Christian School - Received $1000.00 to purchase basketball and soccer equipment for after school programs for youth ages 9–12 years. The programs will provide at risk youth in the core of Winnipeg an opportunity to become involved in positive activities with the potential to enhance their self-esteem, self-discipline and learn the value of team.
The Immigrant and Refugee Community Organization of Manitoba Inc. - Received $1,182.00 for a Newcomer Youth Exposure Camp. The camp will introduce newcomer youth to all aspects of policing in a cadet setting. The camp will provide newcomer youth with an opportunity to interact with the Winnipeg Police Service over a period of one week engaging in various policing activities. The camp will provide an insightful environment for newcomer youth to learn about the role and duties of law enforcement officers.
