The grass clippings, leaves, and twigs that residents have hauled to the curb as part of our yard waste collection have been turned into piles of compost ready for your garden and we are giving it away for free.
Winnipeg residents can get up to 100 litres of compost during our giveaway event from October 1 – 3, 2021. It is available from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. at Brady 4R Winnipeg Depot, the Kilcona Dog Park west parking lot, and at the Summit Road closed landfill site while quantities last.
“We have approximately 1,000 cubic metres of compost to giveaway,” said Michael Gordichuk, Manager of Solid Waste.
In fact, this year our compost was made with the help of some vegetables. It includes the food waste that was collected from residents participating in our Residential Food Waste Collection Pilot Project.
