As we wait for the day we can once again safely browse collections, the Winnipeg Public Library has got you covered for your reading, listening, and viewing needs. Not only can you use the digital library from the comfort of your home, you can also pick up materials you have on hold through the contactless holds pick-up and return service available now at all library branches

“We are happy to offer contactless pick-up and returns services at all library locations as a safe way for Winnipeggers to enjoy library items,” said Ed Cuddy, Manager of Library Services.

Getting your library materials is quick and easy. Visit the library’s website or download the Winnipeg Public Library app and then type what you are looking for in the Search Catalogue. Select the title, press hold, and choose location.

Once your hold is available, you will receive a phone or email notification. Head over to your selected branch during operating hours, but please don’t come inside yet. Instead, call the branch from the safety of your vehicle or from a safe distance outside. The number will be posted on the door. If you don’t have a mobile phone, please call before leaving your house.

Our employees will ask you for your name and library card number. They will check the items out for you and direct you to the holds pickup area.

One person is allowed in the pick-up area at a time. Your items will be clearly marked with your name. You may have to wait outside until the holds pickup area is clear and we appreciate your patience. Please remember to wear a mask and physical distance at all times.
