Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to a fire on Crescent Drive

Winnipeg, MB At 6:39 p.m. on Thursday, November 24, 2022, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a two-storey home in the 900 block of Crescent Drive.

At the scene, crews saw heavy smoke coming from the home. Firefighters initially attacked the fire from inside but switched to an exterior attack as conditions worsened. Firefighters are using an aerial ladder to extinguish the fire and ensure it does not reignite. The fire was declared under control at 8:25 p.m., but crews are expected to remain on scene into the night.

Everyone got out of the home safely. No injuries were reported.

Two northbound lanes on Pembina Highway near Crescent Drive are closed and will reopen once crews complete their work at the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. The home is expected to be a total loss.
