On November 24, 2022, at 8:25 p.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the area of Main Street and Pioneer Avenue for a report of an intoxicated individual causing a disturbance on a Winnipeg Transit bus. A transit supervisor was on the scene, and the bus could not continue on its route.
Upon arrival, officers located an adult female acting erratically and took her into custody.
It was determined that she had been involved in a previous transit-related incident earlier in the day:
At approximately 3:15 p.m., it is believed that the female had been causing a disturbance on a bus – which had to stop at the Garden City terminal due to her behaviour, and a transit supervisor was requested.
When the supervisor attended to the bus and attempted to check on her well-being, she became agitated and threw numerous objects at him – including her personal belongings and unused syringes. She also threw a backpack and a carrying case, striking him in the face twice. The female then fled the area.
The supervisor did not require medical attention.
A 35-year-old female of Winnipeg is facing charges of:
- Assault with a Weapon
She was released on an Undertaking (as mandated by the Criminal Code).
