On December 2, 2022, at approximately 12:30 a.m., Central District General Patrol officers arrested a male, seizing a loaded .40 calibre Sig Sauer handgun during a traffic stop.
Officers were patrolling the Dufferin neighbourhood when they conducted a traffic stop on a taxi cab at Arlington Street and Selkirk Avenue. A male passenger was confirmed to have an outstanding warrant and taken into custody when the firearm was discovered in his possession.
A 33-year-old male of Winnipeg is facing the following charges:
- Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
- Carrying Concealed Weapon Prohibited Device or Ammunition
- Unauthorized Poss of a Firearm in Motor Vehicle
- Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order x 2
- Highway Traffic Act infraction
- Warrant for failing to attend Ident
He remains in police custody.
