Assault – Public Advisory: C23-16209

On January 21, 2023, at approximately 12:30 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the report of a female assaulted by an unknown male in the residential area of Elizabeth Road and De Bourmont Avenue.

Officers met with the victim, in her 40s, who was transported to hospital in stable condition.

She reported walking west on Elizabeth Road, then north on De Bourmont Avenue, when she was attacked from behind by an unknown male. She was choked from behind, pulled to the ground and lost consciousness. She fought off the suspect when she regained consciousness, and he fled on foot.

The Major Crimes Unit, in consultation with the Sex Crimes Unit, has taken over this investigation.

An initial suspect description was provided as follows:

- A male, approximately 5’8” tall, with an average build

- No race description

- Wearing a black jacket, black pants and black gloves

- His head was covered with a black toque, with a hoodie up, and his face was covered
