Update – Homicide – Investigation: Arrest – C23-313628

As previously released, on December 30, 2023, at 3:00 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the 200 block of Flora Avenue for the report of suspicious circumstances. Upon arrival, a deceased male was located outside.  

Investigators determined the deceased was a victim of a homicide and identified as 20-year-old Brooklyn Elijah HIEBERT of Winnipeg. 

The Homicide Unit continued the investigation.

It has been concluded that the deceased was assaulted while in the 200 block of Selkirk Avenue, which caused fatal injuries. The deceased was then conveyed and abandoned in the 200 block of Flora Avenue.

On July 7, 2024, Christopher Kyle WATTMAN, 36, was arrested in the 900 block of Aberdeen Avenue and charged with 1st Degree Murder.

WATTMAN has been detained in custody.

The investigation is continuing.
