Homicide – Arrest: C21-225073

Update:

Dawson Kenliegh McKay, a 21-year-old male of Winnipeg, has been arrested for the shooting death of Joshua Pashe, 26, which occurred on September 26, 2021, in the 100 block of Salter Street.

On December 26, 2021, just before midnight, North District General Patrol officers – conducting a proactive search for McKay – attended an apartment complex in the Alpine Place neighbourhood where they found him attempting to hide. As a result, he was arrested on a Canada-wide arrest warrant for Second Degree Murder.

Members of the Homicide Unit subsequently took custody of McKay.

It is believed that McKay and the victim, Pashe, were not previously known to each other, but were involved in a verbal altercation before the shooting.

McKay has been detained.

As previously released:

On September 26, 2021, at approximately 12:30 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to reports of a male shot outside a convenience store in the 100 block of Salter Street. Responding officers located a 26-year-old male that had been shot and administered emergency first aid. He was transported to hospital in critical condition and subsequently succumbed to his injuries.

The deceased was identified as Joshua Jordan Paul Pashe, a 26-year-old male of Winnipeg.

Members of the Homicide Unit continued with the investigation and identified a suspect.

Dawson Kenliegh McKay, a 21-year-old male of Winnipeg, is wanted for Second Degree Murder.

Investigators are seeking the public’s assistance in locating McKay as his whereabouts are unknown.

The public is cautioned not to approach McKay and to call 911 immediately
