Residents can now recycle their Christmas trees

Released: December 27, 2012 at 11:13 a.m.
Let's Chip In Depots are open until January 20, 2013

WINNIPEG, MB - Residents can recycle their Christmas trees for free at one of the 11 Let's Chip In depots now open daily until January 20, 2013.

Before dropping off your tree, remember to please remove all tinsel, decorations, plastic bags, and tree stands. Residents are welcome to help themselves to free wood chips, which will be available at all depots in early January (while quantities last). Remember to bring a container.

Trees placed beside recycling or garbage carts will not be collected.

Keeping Christmas trees out of our landfill means that the trees will continue to be a valuable resource. Winnipeg residents recycled 15,000 trees last season.
