Residents reminded of adjusted garbage and recyling schedules during holiday season

WINNIPEG, MB - The City of Winnipeg is reminding residents who normally have collection on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday, to please put recycling and garbage carts out one day later for the next two weeks.

Recycling and garbage cart collection on Monday, December 24 and Monday, December 31, will not change.

Recycling and garbage collectors will not be working on Tuesday, December 25 and Tuesday, January 1. This will set collection back one day.

The adjusted collection schedule for this period is as follows:

Single-family homes and multi-family apartments

For apartments with front loading collection bins
Collection will be either the day before or the day after the statutory holidays.

Brady Road Resource Management Facility (Brady Road Landfill)
The only changes to the regular hours of operation during the holidays are:

  • Tuesday, December 25 - Closed
  • Tuesday, January 1 - Closed

Let's Chip In Christmas tree recycling depots
Residents can recycle their real Christmas tree by dropping it off at any of the 11 Let's Chip In depots, open from Thursday, December 27 to Sunday, January 20. Please remove all tinsel, decorations, plastic bags, and tree stands. Free wood chips will be available at all Let's Chip In depots in early January (while quantities last). Please bring your own container.

Residents are reminded that trees placed beside recycling or garbage carts will not be collected.
