How do I use the information I obtained in an interment (burial) search to find the property?
How do I find the section number within the cemetery grounds?
In all three cemeteries, sections are identified by freestanding signs.
How do I find the lot number within the cemetery sections?
In Brookside and Transcona cemeteries, the newer sections with a continuous strip foundation have the lot number on a metal plate, located on the foundation at the head of the lot (grave).
In the older sections of Brookside, Transcona and St. Vital cemeteries, the lot number is stamped in a circular concrete cone (three inches in diameter) at the foot of the lot, inserted at ground level. Sometimes the lot number can be hidden just below the surface. Please
contact our Customer Service Advisors for assistance if needed.
Are the cemetery roadways clear of snow in the winter?
Roadways are cleared daily. However, during blizzard conditions or after a heavy snowfall, it may be necessary to close some cemetery roadways until they can be cleared. Call 204-986-4348 before visiting the grounds during the winter months to determine road conditions.
Can I get to the interment site (grave) during the winter months?
We do not clear the snow from within sections or walkways unless there is an interment taking place. If you wish to place a wreath at the site, please
contact our Customer Service Advisors. They can arrange this service for you for a small fee.
Can I use my bicycle or roller blades to get around the cemetery?
You may use a bicycle for a means of transport to get around the cemetery, but for safety reasons, we do not allow the use of inline skates, skateboards, or longboards.
Can I ask the grounds person cutting the grass to assist me in finding an interment site location?
Yes, you may request his/her help if you are unable to find the location yourself.
