Our History
The Municipal Cemeteries Branch has provided interment services since 1878, beginning with the opening of Brookside Cemetery, home to one of Canada's oldest and largest Military Fields of Honour.

The St. Vital Cemetery and Transcona Cemetery were opened by their respective municipalities, and operation of the two cemeteries was transferred to the Municipal Cemeteries Branch in 1978.

Perpetual Maintenance Reserve Fund
Perpetual maintenance of the grounds, lots/plots, niches and cremation gardens is provided to all owners. We invest a percentage of the purchase price of all cemetery property in the Perpetual Maintenance Reserve Fund to ensure funds will always be available to maintain all three cemeteries.

Pre-Planning
In addition to affordable prices, we allow for the purchase of a new interment property to be made interest free over a period of up to one year.
