MEDIA RELEASE:

WINNIPEG December 13, 2006 - On Thursday, December 14, 2006 from 4:00 p.m. — 8:00 p.m., the City of Winnipeg is hosting a public Open House at both the Cindy Klassen Recreation Complex, 999 Sargent Avenue, and the West End Library, 823 Ellice Avenue.

The purpose of the Open House is to provide an opportunity for the public to view the proposed plans for the multi-use recreation facility, which will include the relocated West End Library.

To provide ease of access for community residents, identical information will be displayed at both the Sargent and Ellice locations. Representatives from the City of Winnipeg as well as the project architect will be on hand to speak with the public and answer questions regarding this exciting reconstruction project.

Plans for the Cindy Klassen Recreation Complex include a one storey lobby and library addition on the south side of the indoor pool building as well as a second-storey track and aerobic space over a new parking lot that replaces existing tennis courts.

This project is a joint partnership between the City of Winnipeg, the Government of Canada and the Province of Manitoba funded through the Canada-Manitoba Infrastructure Program.
