As per the Province’s Water Information and Flood Conditions forecast update, water levels within Winnipeg are expected to peak at 19 feet James Avenue between May 18 and May 20. The Province continues to operate both the Red River Floodway and the Portage Diversion to manage water levels within the city, which are expected to remain high for a few weeks. Based on the latest Provincial forecast and data, the City has revised its plans and is advising the previously identified 27 at-risk properties that they do not need to build a dike at this time. The City will continue to monitor the situation and advise property owners if and when they need to build a dike.

City staff continue to meet with provincial flood forecasters on a daily basis, and are monitoring weather and river conditions continuously, in order to update our flood response as necessary.
