Water quality test results
The Guidelines for Canadian Drinking Water Quality
apply to treated water only, that is, fresh water that people consume from a cold water tap. Therefore, the majority of the guidelines do not apply to the tests we take on the raw water at Shoal Lake and Deacon Reservoir because Winnipeg residents don't consume the water directly from either of these locations. The exception is the test results for herbicides, pesticides and PCBs at Deacon Reservoir, because the water distribution system downstream from Deacon is a closed system that should prevent the water from being contaminated by these chemicals.
