Paying your water bill

Ways to pay your bill

  1. Pre-authorized payment
  2. Online or telephone banking *
  3. At authorized agents (service fees may apply):
    • participating Canada Post locations with MoneyGram,
    • financial institutions *,
    • designated drug stores and grocery stores *

* These payment methods take three to four business days to reach us.

Overdue accounts

We will turn off your water if you have an outstanding amount owing. Contact us to make payment arrangements. We will add late payment charges of 1.5% per month or 19.57% per annum.

Returned payment fee

We will add a $25 fee to your account if your bank returns your payment (cheque or pre-authorized payment).

If you have received a turn-off notice:

You can pay your bill using any of the payment options listed above except for drug stores or grocery stores. Allow four working days for your payment to reach us. Phone us to make sure we have received your payment in time.

If your water has been turned off:

If we have turned off your water because you have an outstanding balance that is overdue, you must:

  • pay the outstanding amount
  • pay an extra $100.00 service fee, to have your water turned back on
  • provide a current meter reading

You may have to wait 24 to 48 hours for re-connection after we receive your payment.

You can pay:

  1. In person at 510 Main Street Icon indicating a link that will open up a new browser window and take you to a Web site outside of the City of Winnipeg's Web site.   2. By cash, cheque or money order after business hours by using the drop box facing James Avenue at the north entrance doors to City Hall, 510 Main Street. All payments deposited into the drop box will be processed in the morning of the next business day. There is no Interac available at the drop box location.
  3. At participating Canada Post locations with MoneyGram's "Same Day" payment option (service fees apply).
