This branch's responsibilities include:

  • Traffic signals design
  • Management of traffic signals records
  • Design of electrical traffic control devices, such as prepare to stop, pedestrian corridors, and overhead traveler information signs
  • Assessment of traffic signal encroachment
  • Intelligent Transportation System initiatives and improvements to traffic signal systems

PEDESTRIAN SIGNALS

The Transportation Division often receives complaints that pedestrian signals at a particular intersection do not provide sufficient time to cross the street in safety.  Quite frequently we find that it is the meaning or use of these signals that has been misunderstood.

LEFT-TURN SIGNALS IN WINNIPEG

The following summarizes a frequent request: "I would like to suggest a left-turn signal be installed at an intersection that I use regularly !"
