Winnipeg ReLeaf Program
The City of Winnipeg has been awarded a $20,000 grant from Tree Canada and TD Friends of the Environment Foundation to fund the Winnipeg ReLeaf Program in 2016. In partnership with Trees Winnipeg, a local non-profit organization, the Winnipeg ReLeaf Program encourages homeowners to replant trees lost to Dutch elm disease (DED) or other factors, and provide them with training on the "Right Tree Right Place" approach and correct planting techniques to help ensure the survivorship of the newly planted trees.
We invite you to join Winnipeg's ReLeaf Program! For $55, you get to choose the tree collection that best suits your needs and space. The trees offered in these collections are specially chosen for our climate, soils, landscape appeal, and to help increase tree species diversity within our urban forest. In addition to these beautiful, hardy trees for your yard, you'll receive a bag of mulch, rabbit guards, and helpful tree care resources. You'll learn everything you need to know about planting and caring for your trees at a tree planting workshop hosted by Trees Winnipeg.
For more information and to register for the program, please visit Trees Winnipeg website at www.savetheelms.mb.ca/projects/reLeaf.php.
Registration for the program will take place over the summer - the deadline for registration and payment is September 1st. The workshops and tree distribution will take place in the last two weeks of September.
