Gypsy Moth Control Program
GYPSY MOTH TREATMENT TO BE CONDUCTED IN MAY 2012
The City of Winnipeg Insect Control Branch in collaboration with the Province of Manitoba Forestry Branch will be treating public and private trees in a specific area of St. Vital (area outlined in red on map) for Gypsy Moth control. Treatments will be conducted aerially, utilizing the insecticide Foray® 48B (Bacillus thuringiensis var. kurstaki - Btk) - weather permitting. This product has been approved for use in Canada by Health Canada’s Pest Management Regulatory Agency, and will be used in accordance with federally approved label directions by licensed pesticide applicators. Three separate treatments will be conducted with each treatment occurring approximately 7 days apart starting in mid-May and spraying will occur between 5a.m. and 7:30 a.m., weather permitting. A 24 hour notice of each treatment will be provided on this web page and through our email and telephone notification systems.
Buffer Zones are NOT in affect for this program.
