Road Improvements

What improvements are being made to Kenaston Boulevard?

Kenaston is a four-lane divided roadway (two northbound and two southbound lanes) with an urban cross-section from Taylor Avenue to south of Lowson Crescent, where it transitions to a rural cross-section. Kenaston will be widened to six lanes, three northbound and three southbound from Taylor Avenue to south of Lowson Crescent, with improvements made to the rail crossing. A City Study is currently underway to upgrade Kenaston to six lanes from Taylor Avenue north to Ness Avenue.

What improvements will be made to Sterling Lyon Parkway?

Sterling Lyon Parkway is currently a four-lane divided roadway (two eastbound and two westbound lanes) east of Kenaston. Sterling Lyon Parkway west of Kenaston transitions from a four-lane divided roadway with an urban cross-section to a two-lane undivided roadway with a rural cross-section. Sterling Lyon Parkway will be widened to a four-lane divided roadway, two eastbound and two westbound lanes from west-of-Kenaston to extend through the Shaftesbury/McCreary intersection.

What improvements will be made to Shaftesbury Boulevard?

Shaftesbury north of Wilkes Ave will be widened with two southbound left-turn storage lanes.

How many lanes will there be on Sterling Lyon Parkway? How many turning lanes?

Sterling Lyon Parkway will have three eastbound left-turning lanes at Kenaston Blvd, in addition to the two eastbound through lanes. A third westbound through lane on Sterling Lyon from Kenaston to the second signalized all-directional private approach west of Kenaston will be added (with transition back to the two westbound lanes), and a third eastbound through lane from the east private approach on Sterling Lyon to Kenaston will be added (with proper upstream transitions). The total number of lanes on Sterling Lyon Parkway, west of Kenaston, will be nine (9).

How many lanes on Kenaston Boulevard? How many turning lanes?

Kenaston will have three left turning lanes for northbound traffic turning onto Sterling Lyon Parkway (this will result in nine lanes, just south of the Kenaston /Sterling Lyon intersection, and six lanes north of the Kenaston /Sterling Lyon intersection).

When will these improvements be made?

These improvements will be completed prior to the construction of the anchor tenant.
