How can I participate in the public hearing process?

Persons wanting to make representation at the Executive Policy Committee are requested to notify Jo-Ann Park, Manager of the Decision Making Process, at 986-3732. French / English interpretation will be available if requested at least 48 hours prior to the hearing.

When is the public hearing?

9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 18, 2009.

Where is the public hearing? Is there bus service? Parking? Bicycle lockups?

510 Main Street, Council Building. Transit Service – directly in front of Centennial Hall: 11, 15, 16, 18, 20, 21, 22, 24, 25, 28, 31, 32, 33, 35, 40, 41, 42, 44, 45, 46, 47, 48, 58, 67. Metered parking for two hours is available on James Avenue between Princess and King Streets. The Civic Centre Parkade is located above ground in the block bounded by William and James Avenues, and Princess and King Streets. The parkade entrance is from Princess Street – it is a left-hand turn into the parkade. Bicycle lockup is available inside the Parkade near the Attendant’s booth.

How does the public hearing process work?

Person registered in support will be called forward to speak after the Applicant(s), to address the Executive Policy Committee. Persons presenting may use visual aids and/or submit material to the Committee. The Committee may ask questions. Any person who is opposing the project will then be called forward to speak. The Applicant(s) will have the final opportunity to be called forward again to address any issues the opponents have raised and to answer any of the Committee’s questions.

Who is the Executive Policy Committee?

The Executive Policy Committee is comprised of Mayor Sam Katz, who is the Chairperson, Deputy Mayor Justin Swandel, Councillors Bill Clement, Scott Fielding, Mike Pagtakhan, Gord Steeves, and Russ Wyatt.

After hearing representations, the Committee closes public representations and makes a recommendation to Council for approve or reject. Note that the Committee may also adjourn the public hearing to a later date, with or without closing public representations.
