Basement Development

Applying for a Basement Development Permit

To apply for your permit please visit the Zoning and Permits Office at Unit 31 – 30 Fort Street.

Our Hours of Operation are Tuesday to Friday 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. Mondays 8:30 am to 4:30 pm are reserved for telephone inquiries and completed application drop-offs. This enables Zoning and Permits staff to process building and development applications received throughout the week.

Application Requirements:
  • Floor plan layout indicating use of rooms OR 
  • If major structural alterations are involved, such as the altering or moving of beams or teleposts then these plans must be prepared or reviewed by a Professional Engineer (registered in the Province of Manitoba) and a report must be submitted at the time of permit  
  • Completed application form  PDF (pdf, 24kb)
Separate permits are required for electrical and plumbing:
Each permit application requires all of the information shown on the application form and must be submitted to the Zoning and Permits office. Your application visit will take less time if you complete the application form in advance.
