Residential Rehabilitation Assistance Program Inspections

Acts as a delivery agent for the following Residential Rehabilitation Assistance Programs (RRAP).

  • Rental and Rooming House RRAP offers financial assistance to owners for repairs to rental properties and rooming houses that are affordable to low income individuals and families and occupied by low income households.
  • Homeowner RRAP provides financial assistance in the form of a forgivable loan to low income owners of existing accommodations the need major repairs.
  • Disabled RRAP for Persons with Disabilities offers financial assistance to allow homeowners and landlords to improve their dwellings so that they are more accessible to persons with disabilities.

Types of Services

  • Conducts site interviews with homeowners and landlords to explain the RRAP and related rental and home repair programs
  • Provides preliminary site inspections and prepares program applications for dwellings
  • Conducts inspections associated with RRAP for residential and multi-family (apartments) buildings
    • Structural soundness
    • Plumbing systems
    • Mechanical systems
    • Electrical systems
    • Fire safety
    • Site conditions
  • Rental units assessments
  • Performs and assists in bid reviews and financial counseling with owners
  • Prepares final loan applications and necessary documentation
  • Co-ordinates construction and financial progress inspections
  • Acts as arbitrator in cases of owner/contractor disputes
