Search
By Address
The
Citizen Information System allows you to search for information related
to any civic address by typing in the Street Number and Street Name.
If the address typed is not found the system will show you some
addresses that are close to the address you typed. You may select any of these addresses if you wish to find
information on them or use any one of them to go to the map to help
locate yourself. If the
street name you typed is not found and the system will give you some
options of sound alikes to choose from. If the address and street name are not found and sound alikes are
not available then a screen will be displayed giving you the option of
reporting a missing address to the City of Winnipeg.
Help
With Finding Street Names
The
Citizen Information System will provide you with a list of street names
in alphabetical order to help you locate to appropriate street. Select the letter of the alphabet that the street name starts
with and to further refine the search select the two letters the street
Search
Button / Address link
The
Search button will locate the address you typed and display an
information screen with citizen information provided by the City of
Winnipeg. The information
will continue to be expanded and you are encouraged to check back often.

Property Information link
This
link will provide you with additional information related to the address
you have performed the search on. This
is a dynamic link and will only show when there is information on the
address you have typed earlier. The
information that is available under this link will continue to be
expanded and you are encouraged to check back often.
Assessment
Information Link
This
link will take you directly to the City of Winnipeg’s Property
Assessment Department’s web site and directly to the preview of the
2002 property assessment for the address you have performed the search
on. This link takes you
directly to the Property Assessment Department’s web site and you may
explore the wealth of information provided on this site.
Map
Button / Show Address on Map link / Map link
This
link will display a map of the City of Winnipeg at a preset zoom with
building outlines and addresses as well other map-related information.
The address you performed the search on will be displayed at the
top of the screen and blue arrow will point to the location of the
address on the map. This is
a full function map allowing you to zoom in and out as well as getting
citizen information on other addresses on the map. Help on the functions available on the map can be accessed by the

Zoning Information Link
This
link will display information on the zoning of the property related to
the address you have performed the search on. This is some general zoning information on the property and is
used by the City of Winnipeg in its development regulations.
City
Council Page Link
This
link will take you to the City of Winnipeg’s web site providing you
with information on your City Council and related information.
Mayor’s
Page Link
This
link will take you the Mayor of the City of Winnipeg’s web pages,
providing you with information about your Mayor and related information.

Search
by Type of Facility
This
is another way of getting information from the Citizen Information
System by locating properties categorized by types of facilities (e.g.
Recreation Facilities, Heritage Buildings, etc.). The intent is to be able to find information on by predefined
categories.
Type
The
system will allow you to select the facility type from the drop down
list provided. Once a type is selected, associated subtypes will be made
available.
Sub-Type
The
system will allow you to select the sub-type for the facility type
selected, from a drop down list. Once
a sub-type is selected, a list of properties that match the type and
sub-type selected will be displayed. You will be able to use the navigation links (previous, next) to
view the entire list.
Refine
Search By
After
the Sub-Type has been selected and the first few facilities that match
your selection are shown this option will be made available. You may type in full or partial name of a street or the facility
name to further refine your search.
Related
Web Site Link
This
link, if provided on the list of the facilities shown, will take you
directly to the web sites and/or pages associated with that facility.
Once taken there you are free to examine the information
provided.

Mapping
Functions
The
map window has been provided with various mapping functions to allow you
to navigate on the map, as you may want to search for a specific
facility, property or address. The
functions are provided to give you the ability to interact with map
provided as you search for citizen information provided by the City of
Winnipeg. The functions
work by you selecting the function you would like to perform and then
clicking on the map.
Zoom
In
The
Zoom In function allows you to zoom in closer on the map to either get
more detail or a closer view of the property location you are interested
in. Select the Zoom In
radio button and then click on the map and you will be displayed a new
map at a closer zoom then the previous map shown.
Zoom
Out
The
Zoom Out function allows you to zoom out farther on the map to either
get better understanding of where you are on the map of the City or to
see more information of the surrounding area. Select the Zoom Out radio button and then click on the map and
you will be displayed a new map at a farther zoom then the previous map
shown.
Re-Center
to That Point
This
function allows you to re-center the map to the location you specify on
the map. Select the
Re-Center to that point radio button and click on the map and you will
be displayed a new map centered at the point you have specified.
Show
Address Info
This
function allow you to get information on an address shown on the map by
just selecting a specific address shown on the map. You must be zoomed in close
enough to select the address on the map. Select the Show Address
Info radio button and then click on an address on the map and you will
shown citizen information related to that address. To find out more on what is shown, go to the following link:

Show
Whole City
This function allows you to zoom to a
view of the entire City of Winnipeg with the blue arrow still
identifying the location of the address you zoomed to. Select the Show Whole City button and entire city view will be
shown.
Map
Width
This function
allows you to set the map (zoom) width of the map that is displayed on
the screen. The intention
of this button is to allow you to specify an exact meter width you would
like to see the map represent. Type
the number of meters you would like the map width to be and click on the
apply button. This will
automatically reset the map to the width specified.
Enlarge
Map or Reduce Map
This function
allows you to see the map occupying a larger amount of the web page if
you wish. The intention of
this function is to allow you to make a larger map for your purposes in
order to see more detail or just see a larger map on the screen. The function will show Enlarge Map if the map is at the default
setting or will show Reduce Map if the map is already enlarged.
Arrows
on border of Map
There are arrows
all around the border of the map to help you navigate your self on the
map. The intention of the
arrows is pan across the map, as you may want to see information not
displayed on the map. The
arrows will allow you to pan north, south, east and west. The arrows also allow panning to north-east, south-east,
north-west and south-west by clicking on the arrows on corners of the
map. The arrows work in
conjunction with the Pan Arrows options (see below).
Pan
Arrows options
The Pan Arrows
option allows you to set the amount the map will pan when the arrows on
the border of the map are selected. The options are as follows:

/ 4 Page
This will pan 1 / 4 of a page and
is done by selecting the option and then clicking on one of the
arrows on the border of the map.

/ 2 Page
This will pan 1 / 2 of a page and
is done by selecting the option and then clicking on one of the
arrows on the border of the map.
3
/ 4 Page
This will pan 3 / 4 of a page and
is done by selecting the option and then clicking on one of the
arrows on the border of the map.
