West End B.I.Z.
The award recipient for the West End BIZ is Charles Tizya.
Charles began working for the West End BIZ on January, 2007 on the Graffiti Removal Team. This was a pilot program at the time for the BIZ, with training being very limited, this meant a structure had to be created as well as a system needed to be implemented to run the program.
Charles took ownership of the program using his creative skills to access training and researching better ways to get the job done more efficiently.
Charles was transformed when he became aware of how graffiti impacted the community in which he lived and with that, his enthusiasm and commitment to the program and valuable feedback added to the program`s success.
Over the years several commendations from business owners and residents have been received praising Charles excellent customer’s service and constant positive attitude,
Charles has been an ambassador and advocate of the BIZ, participating in radio interviews and contributing articles to community publications about the impact of graffiti and his work to eliminate it both through actual removal and education.
Charles serves as positive role model to the BIZ’s student summer staff to improve their quality of work, and take ownership of what they do and contribute ideas. Once a troubled youth himself, Charles is an example and inspiration for the many at risk youth in the BIZ`s area, and takes time to share his stories and encourage them to seek a better future for themselves.
Charles goes above and beyond in everything he does and approaches each day determined to make a difference.
Congratulations Charles!!
